What You Need to Know About the Upcoming IT Film

Are you as excited as I am about the release of IT?

The upcoming film based on the Stephen King novel and directed by Andres Muschietti looks utterly terrifying. New Line Cinema’s 2017 remake of It is set to hit theaters on September 8, and we’re both scared and excited.

Many of Stephen King’s novels have been adapted for the screen, but many of them don’t necessarily turn out well. But this highly-anticipated film looks promising.

Creepy Clowns

Stephen King’s Pennywise is back – and more terrifying than ever before thanks to a nuanced performance from Bill Skarsgard.

Remember last year when there were creepy clown sightings everywhere? So many people were freaked out — a few clowns were even arrested — that New Line had to release a statement claiming that the company “is absolutely not involved in the rash of clown sightings” and wasn’t pulling a viral-marketing stunt. Clearly, the only logical conclusion is that Pennywise itself was behind all this.

The first film is meant to be followed by a second film set decades later.

Pennywise isn’t just a clown; he is the embodiment of evil. It appears in the town of Derry, Maine once every 27 years.

“We’ll probably have a script for the second part in January [2018],” said Muschetti earlier this year. “Ideally, we would start prep in March. Part one is only about the kids. Part two is about these characters 30 years later as adults, with flashbacks to 1989 when they were kids.”
