As a mother I know when I was pregnant with each of my kids, my one hope was that they would all be born healthy. Sure we may secretly want a boy or a girl, but what we all want is a complication-free labor that results in a healthy, happy new baby.
When my fourth child was born he was unfortunately quite ill (all good now though!) and had to spend two weeks in the NICU. When we were there I saw many babies who were seriously ill and fighting for their lives, and I always marveled not only at their strength, but at the strength of their parents and families. It was amazing to me to see how strong these people could be even when dealing with such heartache.
It’s not easy to have a sick child or a child with medical needs, but every day we see parents step up and do everything they can to ensure their children live the fullest lives they can, which isn’t always easy, especially on the parent.
