This Preschool Letter Home to Parents Would Make Any Parent Angry

When my sons went off to preschool, there were many tears. It took a few days, maybe longer than a week, for drop-off to be easier… the teachers would sometimes have to hold my kid on her lap, and soothe him while I quickly ran out the door.

I stayed home with my boys those early years, and of course, they weren’t used to having someone else care for them – even if just for a few hours. But I realized a little separation at age 3 would help prepare them for kindergarten.

What I realized quickly was also that my boys were active! They couldn’t sit still longer than 5 minutes at a time. “Circle time” which required longer than 5 minutes, wouldn’t hold their attention unless the teacher was engaging and entertaining. They would have to use their words, face and body language to fully engage and interest my rambunctious boys.
