This past week, I haven’t had the best sleep. I can’t explain why but I’ve been waking up and not able to go back to sleep.
I’m lucky I don’t have constant insomnia, a sleep disorder where people have trouble sleeping. They may have difficulty falling asleep, or staying asleep as long as you want.
It’s tough when you’re tossing and turning, and can’t seem to find a comfortable position! If I don’t sleep properly, I can’t function; I become extremely irritable and can snap over the littlest things.
So my “beauty” sleep is super important… when your brain runs a million thoughts throughout the day, sleep is crucial to rest the mind and body, and feel rejuvenated and ready for a new day.
Good sleep is necessary for optimal health and can affect hormone levels, mood and weight. That was the biggest surprise for me, that lack of sleep can lead to weight gain!
Stress can also lead to weight gain, so put those two together and I’ll be packing on the pounds in no time.
Simon Cowell has trouble falling or staying asleep. He wanted to get some hot milk because he couldn’t sleep. Some say drinking a glass of warm milk will help you fall asleep because of the tryptophan, best known for being in turkey.
