Serena Williams Opens Up About Her Scary Postpartum Complications

She's been through a lot!

One glance at tennis phenom Serena Williams‘ social media accounts and you can tell she is loving being a mom. The new mother has been sharing pictures constantly of her now five month old daughter Alexis Olympia and she’s clearly loving up this new mom gig.

Despite all the happy pictures that show the loving family, Williams did not have a complication free birth or postpartum experience. Like many new moms, she’s had her share of struggles and anxiety along the way.

The tennis Goddess had previously opened up about experiencing complications while in labor with her daughter. It seems that wasn’t the end of her complications.

Williams may be a tennis great but becoming a mother was an entirely new playing field for her. The 36 year old is on the most recent cover of Vogue with her new daughter and in the interview she opens up about her harrowing postpartum experience as well as how she’s adjusting to be a mom.

Her social media accounts may make it look like she has it all together, but Serena Williams is getting real. In her interview she details the scary complications she experienced and how sometimes she feels like a failure as a mom. She’s never been more relatable.
