One Mom Explains Why She Had Her Kids Practice Opening Christmas Gifts

This is not a drill

Like a lot of families, Christmas morning can get a bit hectic at my house. Let’s face it, with four kids opening Christmas gifts can be totally crazy and out of control.

Opening Christmas gifts was way more of a production when my kids were younger. They were literally bouncing off the walls with excitement over what Santa brought for them that it was sometimes hard to get everyone calm for long enough to wait for their sibling to open their present.

The process only got crazier when we would head over to the grandparent’s houses too. Imagine a room full of kids — a mixture of your own and all their cousins — eagerly opening Christmas gifts from aunts, uncles and grandparents who live to spoil them all. Far too many Christmases I come home with a car full of gifts that I couldn’t even remember my kids opening. The worst part was when I would ask them who bought a particular gift for them and they couldn’t even remember!

Does this sound familiar to you? I know a lot of parents can relate to how crazy Christmas morning can be.

One mother recently shared how she prevented the madness that is opening Christmas presents, and you might want to give it a try.
