For many parents and their children, a day at the water park is one of the highlights of summer. I know my own kids would spend every day at one of those large themed water parks that features gigantic slides and crazy drop tunnels if I let them.
Last year on a family trip we hit up a popular water park and my kids spent hours going on their favorite rides and racing each other while I preferred to lounge in the lazy river. Truth be told, I’ve never been a big fan of water parks or amusement parks, because my anxiety levels usually go in to overdrive when surrounded by those massive rides and so many people, but we go because my kids love it so much.
This past year however was a year that showed us just how dangerous some of these parks can be. In the summer of 2016 Caleb Thomas Schwab was killed while riding a new water slide at a local water park in Kansas City. Then this past summer a young boy was seriously injured when he hydroplaned off the bottom of a slide at a brand new water park in California.
