Nutella Is Refusing To Make A 5-Year-Old A Special Jar Because Of Her Controversial Name

If your name is Isis, there’s no doubt that people are giving you quite the side eye these days. There’s a new report that says Nutella has refused to make a special “Make Me Yours” personalized jar for a 5-year-old girl just because her name is Isis.

And no, her name isn’t ISIS, but Isis, and she has nothing to do with the terrorist group that the Islamic State of Iraq or the acronym that they are commonly referred to by.

Isis’ mother, Heather Taylor, was completely upset when she found out that the company refused to personalize a jar of Nutella because of her daughter’s name.

According to Yahoo Parenting, Nutella is standing by their decision.

“Like all campaigns, there needs to be consistency in the way terms and conditions are applied,” the company said in a statement provided to the Sydney Morning Herald. “Unfortunately, this has meant there have been occasions where a label has not been approved on the basis that it could have been misinterpreted by the broader community or viewed as inappropriate.”

Tell us Hot Moms, does the mom really have a reason to be upset? I mean, 5 years ago ISIS wasn’t the household name it is today and you can’t change a child’s name just because it sounds like an Islamic terrorist group. And is Nutella being a little too sensitive in this case? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
