Now more than ever we seem to label mothers and put them in these unrealistic boxes. Maybe you’re a helicopter mom, or a crunchy mom, or a tiger mom, or a lazy mom or even a sanctimommy. Society seems to think that moms need these labels in order to decide how they will parent their children.
When we first get pregnant, we have an ideal in our heads about the kind of mom we want to be. Maybe we want to be the kind of mom who breastfeeds exclusively for a year. Perhaps the plan was to make only homemade, organic baby food. Or maybe co-sleeping is important, or baby wearing. Or maybe you plan to formula feed and use disposable diapers. Whatever you choose, there’s typically a label for it.
