What really happened to Sherri Papini, the 34-year-old California woman who went missing last November after going for a jog.
Her husband reported her missing after he came home from work and found that she hadn’t picked up their children from daycare.
Papini was discovered 22 days later on Interstate 5 on Highway 99, in Yolo County, over 150 miles away from her home, after she flagged down a truck driver.
New footage released by Shasta County police shows the kidnapped mom running to a Jehovah’s Witness church in the area before running back towards the Interstate in the grainy video, moments before she was discovered and taken to safety.
“She’s seen going southbound on [Highway] 99 west towards Interstate 5 where she goes out of view to the right, the direction of the ramp to northbound Interstate 5,” Sergeant Brian Jackson said.
Early on Thanksgiving morning, her kidnappers kicked her out of their car on the side of of County Road 17 near the interstate. Minutes after the surveillance video was taken, a trucker heading north on Interstate 5 spotted Papini on a freeway onramp in Yolo County and stopped to help.
