About a year and a half ago my husband and I decided to make a big move about three hours north of where we used to be for three simple reasons: a) better growth and opportunities b) more bang for our buck in a better housing area and c) to be closer to my mom. We have two small children who no doubt would rather spend their evenings snuggling with their grandmother than with a paid babysitter, so that’s why the decision was pretty easy for us.
And apparently, we’re not the only ones who think living close to grandma is a good idea, too. According to a new report, the average American only lives 18 miles away from their mom, thanks to a new trend in better job opportunities and more people leaning on family for support.
