Mom Receives Death Threats After Tweeting Her Son’s Medical Bill

When Ali Chandra shared a photo on Twitter last month to show how the Affordable Care Act’s ban on benefits caps has made it possible for her son to receive life-saving care, she didn’t expect the backlash she received afterwards.

The mom and Registered Nurse from New Jersey has a three-year-old son, Ethan, who was born with nine congenital heart defects, called heterotaxy syndrome, which is a one-in-four-million condition. Doctors have called his heart “one of the most complex in the world”.

Ethan has already undergone multiple open heart operations, and will likely need more to keep him alive.
