When I was a newly-minted teenager, I discovered chat rooms. This was back in the day of dial-up internet and honestly, there wasn’t that much to do on the World Wide Web back then. I would spend time refreshing my email while listening to Britney Spears, just hoping my crush would email me back.
Somehow, I stumbled into a chat room and started talking to someone named “Robin.” I still remember our exchanges very clearly — along with my parents’ rage when they discovered that I was chatting online with a stranger. I thought they were being ridiculous. Robin was clearly who she said she was, I insisted. How lame could they be?
Now, of course, I realize how foolish I was, but back then, I thought I was the smart one. That’s what kids do and that’s exactly why one mom set up a pretty scary experiment for her son.
See what happened when one mom hired “pedophiles” to scare her son.
