Mom Accuses Kids on Play Date at Her House of ‘Stealing’ Her Candy

Every now and again I’ll watch a few minutes of that show What Would You Do? You know the one where they concoct a moral dilemma (like a parent beating a child or insulting a gay person) and then film the whole exchange to see what – if anything – members of the public will do.

But a recent post on a parenting website recounts a situation that is like an episode of that U.S. show. The anonymous mom wrote on one of the community pages that she recently had two siblings (aged 9 and 10) over to her house on a play date. She wrote: “My only rule is that my bedroom is out of bounds.”

But the anonymous mother asked her child to “fetch [her] sewing kit” from her bedroom. She wrote: “What I later found out is one or both of the siblings followed her in and ate some of my sweets. Dd1 is autistic so cannot easily lie and rarely breaks rules so I believe her when she said she didn’t touch anything.”

This is where the “what would you do” scenario comes in. The mom accused the children of stealing and she asked readers to weigh in.
