Mom Urges Parents To Trust Their Instincts After Baby Contracts Meningitis

We agree.

One of our worst nightmares as parents is knowing that there is something wrong with our child and it being dismissed by the doctor or medical professional we’ve taken them to be seen. Mom always knows best and whenever you have kids, that parenting intuition is fierce and a true force to be reckoned with – but we don’t always trust it whenever a doctor is telling us something different.

This mom experienced a horrific tragedy with her son after contracting Meningitis and she’s sharing a very big warming that all parents need to hear.

On the morning of May 11th, Summer Poff knew something was wrong with her 7-month-old son, Blaize. He wasn’t acting like himself and she could tell. The baby boy was fussy, feverish and wouldn’t go to sleep. She tried to soothe her baby and gave him Tylenol, but at 3 a.m, she knew she needed to take him to the hospital.

When she arrived at the Legacy Silverton Medical Center, the staff there treated Blaize with Tylenol, just like she had done at home and despite her concerns about how he was feeling, they sent her home from the hospital.

Feeling like something was still off, she told the Statesman Journal that she didn’t “think they should’ve sent him home.”
