Tina Fey Breaks Our Hearts And Gives The Real Reason ‘Mean Girls 2’ Will Never Happen

This is why we can't have nice things.

There are some movies that are classic forever. These movies are ones that seem to work no matter what generation is watching and the characters are a mix of super real and hilarious. For me, these classic movies are rooted in the ones I watched hen I was a teenager. Two of them stand out more than the rest — being Clueless and Mean Girls. They’re my movies and ones even now I can watch over and over and still find funny.

When Mean Girls first came out, I wasn’t sure I was going to like it. I remember scoffing at the preview saying that it was just another dumb movie. I felt the same way about Legally Blonde, which was also an amazing movie, BTW. I finally watched the movie starting Cady and Regina and seriously was hooked from the start. It did a great job at highlighting what high school is like. And what the dynamic of being a teenage girl is like too. On top of that, the movie hit on bullying and actually had a real message at the end. There ere characters you would having in high school back when I was in it — and you’d find those same people in high school now.

I’ve always wondered why they didn’t make a second movie. Most movies that do really well get a sequel and I’ve been waiting for this one. Well, Tina Fey, who wrote the movie, finally revealed why Mean Girls 2 didn’t happen and why it likely never will.

And my heart is crushed about it.
