Man Allegedly Fathered 8 Children With His Daughter That He Held Captive For More Than 20 Years

There are people in the world who are mentally ill and do perverse things to others. And then there are those people who are simply evil.

Indeed, there are some people in the world who we label as sociopaths who have Antisocial and personality disorders, or psychosis. They are diagnosed mentally ill. We say people are mentally ill when their personal conduct violates certain ethical, political, and social norms.

But I can’t help but think that people who commit unspeakable things with no remorse are more than sociopaths – they are pure evil. I’m talking about those who repeatedly disregard the safety or welfare of others, and rationalize or show little or no remorse for the pain they inflict on others. They may even take joy and pleasure in hurting other people.

Do you think there are genuine monsters lurking out there who are evil and possessed by demons to do unspeakable things to others?

I think there is a difference between evil and mental illness in that evil has a clear understanding of motive and intent with no remorse for consequences, and mental illness doesn’t.
