Did you plan your pregnancy? Or was it a surprise?
After my husband and I got married, we knew we wanted a couple of years to ourselves before starting a family. We knew we had to work hard to save up enough money to put a down payment on a house. I wanted to move out of our one-bedroom apartment before trying for a baby. I knew there would never be a “perfect” time, but I wanted to at least be in a financial position to start our little family. I wanted to have a nursery for the baby rather than manage in a cramped space.
Once we bought the house and knew when we’d be moving in, we started to plan! I knew it would take an average of six to 12 months to conceive, so we started trying right away.
To my surprise, I conceived after the third try. We planned, tried and it worked – we were lucky to get pregnant so quickly. I immediately felt pregnancy symptoms; sore breasts, extreme fatigue and soon enough, nausea and morning sickness. I started to show by the sixth week! I put on weight quite fast too. Maybe I was in tune with my body because I felt everything throughout my pregnancy. From baby’s movements to Braxton-Hicks contractions, I felt it all.
So I always scratch my head when I hear stories of people not knowing they were pregnant.
