For many, breastfeeding is a personal, private matter that is strictly between mother and child. When my two children were still young, I wasn’t the kind of mother who breastfed in public or in front of other people whenever my babies were hungry. Instead, I would just scuffle out of the room and do it somewhere more discreet. And that’s not because I was embarrassed to breastfeed, but simply because I’ve always been rather shy about exposing my body in public.
Of course, not everyone feels the same way. Thankfully, more and more women are working hard to not only get rid of the stigma that comes with public breastfeeding, but to also normalize it in our society. That’s why so many people are moved by these touching photos of a police officer who breastfed a suspect’s baby when she was unable to do it herself.
