3 Years After His Mom Shot Him In The Head, 11-Year-Old Boy Finally Leaves Rehab

He had to fight through so much

There are some kids in this world who have had to endure things we can’t even imagine. It’s hard to paint that picture that these little humans who are supposed to know only love and safety have had to deal with the aftermath of unimaginable crime and pain. That’s what young Joey Slaight has had to endure when his own mother shot him at point-blank range when he was only 8-years-old.

According to PEOPLE, Morgan Slaight shot her two young boys in Montfort, Wisconsin, on January 2, 2015. After shooting her sons she turned the gun on herself. 6-year-old Jaxon, Slaight’s youngest child, was killed quickly. 8-year-old Joey, however, survived the gunshot to the head.

Reportedly, Morgan Slaight was described as being a “recovering methamphetamine addict who had previously threatened suicide.” She died of her injuries a few days later.
