As a mother who is often busy with work, keeping my household running efficiently, shuffling my children to and from school, volunteering, AND trying to keep the magic from disappearing in her marriage, I’ll tell you that I’m sometimes exhausted. Simply put, I can’t do it all. That’s why I don’t pretend to try doing it all, either. Something or someone always loses out whenever I try to take on more than I can manage.
With that being said, I try to still keep up with the everyday basics, especially on days that I feel like I’m way behind in my work or just completely drowning with life. In other words, I’ll order takeout for dinner and call it a day or take what’s ever in our freezer, put it on the skillet and serve dinner in less than 5 minutes. I know that feeding my children Trader Joe’s chicken and fried rice might not be the healthiest choice in the world, but on some days I do what works. And if they are fed and not complaining, then I’ve done my job. I’m sure a lot of parents can relate and that’s also the reason why they are scratching their head over Jennie Garth’s latest revelation about her family’s strict food rules. Some applauding her for sticking to her guns while others think she might be a tad unrealistic.
