Bent on Learning is a non-profit organization that works to bring yoga into the public schools of New York City. The organization has grown tremendously over the years- this year they had their swanky fundraising gala which was hosted at Donna Karan’s Urban Zen. Alice and Olivia sponsored the gala and the stars came out to support yoga in schools. Everyone from recording artist Maxwell to actress Sanaa Lathan was there and the evening was glamorous. Russell Simmons came out in his tailored suit and signature Yankee cap, shell-toed Adidas, and prayer beads. Russell, who practices at Jivamukti yoga school credits his yoga practice with transforming his life to one of total abundance spiritually and he advocates for yoga to be a regular part of the school curriculum. Gwyneth Paltrow gave a heart felt speech about yoga and how it has influenced her life and paid homage to her teacher Eddie Stern. She even spent an extra 20 minutes talking to kids and fans, taking group pictures on the side of the stage after her acceptance speech. Gwyneth on the spot donated a live auction item- a trip to the set of GLEE and hang session with the cast which sold for 10k. To find out more about this beloved yoga organization click here!
