Did you have an item from your childhood that was that one thing you couldn’t live without? For me it was a Strawberry Shortcake pillow that I got for Christmas from Santa one year when I was about 6 or 7. I slept with that pillow well in to my twenties when it finally fell apart for good. For others it’s a beloved stuffed animal, or maybe a special blanket.
My late aunt so amazing that she knit blankets for all of my kids before they were born, and those blankets came with me to the hospital and were with them in their little baby cots from the day they were born until they chose to no longer use them. My teenage daughter still has hers on her bed, even though it’s threadbare and worn from years of washing.
Needless to say, these items, whether they’re a pillow or a blanket or a stuffed animal are very special to us and hold dear, dear places in our hearts and our childhood memories. This is why it’s nice sometimes to be able to share those memories with grandchildren.
