Find Out Why These Breastfeeding Mannequins are Taking Over Malls

Back when I was still breastfeeding my children, I’ll openly admit that I was pretty embarrassed to breastfeed in public. I just didn’t have the courage to do it out in the open (even though I had a breastfeeding cover) and that’s why I would end up feeding my newborn in the oddest places: in the back of our minivan in the parking lot of a shopping mall, in a bathroom at the zoo, or even in a separate room at the library. I just didn’t have self-esteem in me to breastfeed knowing that other eyes were watching.

Now, I can’t explain to you why I felt that way, but I’m sure it’s because I was young, inexperienced and worried about other people’s thoughts and judgment. Thankfully, society is slowly but surely changing the awful stigma that surrounds breastfeeding. In fact, one shopping mall in Colombia has decided to swap all of their store mannequins for breastfeeding ones instead. Here’s why.
