If you just read the above title and thought to yourself, “DANG, how did I miss that?!?” don’t worry, because you’re not the only one.
Apparently, Sunday, October 11, was “National Give A Mom A Nap Day” and WE ALL MISSED IT.
According to Scary Mommy, it’s a day that requires a loved one, or trusted friend or family member, to come over to a mom’s house and take over all duties while mother goes to her room and takes a nap. Blogger Kristen Schrotberger goes on to say:
This needs to be a full sleep involving an REM phase, not simply a light slumber. Mothers should not be interrupted, bothered or awakened for any reason that is non-life threatening. If the children are loud, the “nap-giver” could take the children out of the house for an activity to allow for mother’s maximum relaxation.
OMG, I don’t think I’ve taken a nap in the middle of the day in YEARS. Seriously, this sounds better than Mother’s Day, which by the way is kind of crappy. We work all year round and only get spoiled for one calendar day? Pssshhh. How about we take things one step further by calling a “National Appreciate Your Mother Month.” Who’s with me?
