Back when I was pregnant with my first child over 13 years ago, I took the “eating for two” literally. I basically ate everything in sight! I gained a whopping XX pounds… once I hit the 50-pound mark, I told the nurse during prenatal visits to stop telling me the number on the scale. I would have to deal with the pregnancy weight loss later. But I wish I had been a little more careful with my indulgences during my pregnancies. Don’t get me wrong – I enjoyed the late-night ice cream sessions and French fries with gravy alright! But it took a lot of effort to shed the weight.
I lost all but 10 pounds of weight after my first was born, only to gain it all back again when I became pregnant with my second child two years later.
You’ll see many photos on social media of moms before and after losing the baby weight, and think “Wow! That’s impressive!”
The pressure to lose the baby weight quickly is real – thanks to magazines and celebrity moms who hire trainers and dieticians to get them back to pre-pregnancy weight.
Regular moms don’t have that luxury of chef-prepared meals and a personal trainer to whip us back into shape!
