Get your snack and show your kids a healthier way of making delicious treats.


Prep Time: 20 minutes

Chill Time: 30 to 45 minutes

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (such as Nutella)
1 1/2 cups wheat squares cereal (such as Wheat Chex™)
1 1/2 cups rice squares cereal (such as Rice Chex™ or Crispix™)

Directions: Line cookie sheets with wax paper. Place about 2 inches of water in a saucepan and bring it to a simmer. Put the chocolate chips and hazelnut spread in a bowl and place it over the saucepan. Stir the chocolate occasionally to melt it.
Remove melted mixture from heat and stir in cereals to coat them completely.
Using a large spoon, place spoonfuls of the mixture in mounds on waxed paper lined cookie sheets in mounds about 1 1/2 to 2 inches in diameter.
Refrigerate when done to set the chocolate.
Yields: 2 dozen haystacks
