Mom Charged After Viral Video Apparently Shows 1-Year-Old Smoking

More than 1.5 million people watched the video

Social media has given us so much. We get to talk to our friends and family that we haven’t seen in forever. We also get to use social media to see all kinds of videos. Goats that sound like people screaming, important videos that show us what is going on around the world. Also, social media can bring with it a lot of controversy. We’ve seen police videos taken by cell phones go viral on the social media platform. We have real-time coverage. There is bullying videos of people speaking up when they feel so silenced. Going viral can be good or bad and for one mom, Brianna Ashanti Lofton, her viral video landed her in a lot of trouble.

According to PEOPLE, criminal charges have been filed against 20-year-old North Carolina mother, Brianna Ashanti Lofton, stemming from a video that she posted to Facebook that went really viral. More than 1.5 million people watch the video that she posted. The video upset so many people that the police received several calls over people who were concerned over the health and well-being of the 1-year-old child who was seen on the video.

The video that the 20-year-old mother posted to Facebook was only a 10-second clip, but that was enough to upset people who saw it. It was also enough evidence that eventually led the police to issuing an arrest warrant and then charging the mother with some seriously charges.

I haven’t seen the video personally and doing a quick check on Facebook it appears the video has been removed from the platform. If what the news reports are saying happened in the video did happen, it doesn’t look good. And it seems the police have seen the quick clip and believe that’s enough evidence against the mom.

Brianna Ashanti Lofton has been charged with some very serious charges after concerned people called the police over what was witnessed in the video with her 1-year-old child.
