Listeria

Listeria is a serious infection, primarily affecting pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.

According to the CDC, “Listeriosis is usually a mild illness for pregnant women, but it causes severe disease in the fetus or newborn baby. Adults 65 years and older and people with weakened immune systems most commonly develop severe infections of the bloodstream (causing sepsis) or brain (causing meningitis or encephalitis). Listeria infections can sometimes affect other parts of the body, including bones, joints, and sites in the chest and abdomen.”

If you do have a recalled product in your fridge, you can call Sargento at 1-800-CHEESES (1-800-243-3737) and they will activate your reimbursement.

“The safety of our consumers and our employees is our top priority at Sargento and at the very heart of all we do,” the brand writes on their website.

No illnesses have been reported so far.
