What a tragic story. Brandi Worley, the Indiana mom who stabbed her own children to death, pleaded guilty to two counts of murder in court last week. Worley murdered her son Tyler, 7, and daughter Charlee, 3, in the early morning hours of November 17, 2016. After she killed them, Worley called 911. She told the dispatcher that she stabbed herself and killed her two kids, and that there was blood everywhere. When the dispatcher asked her what made her do it, she replied, “My husband wanted a divorce and wanted to take my kids.”
In court, Worley admitted that she killed her children because her husband filed for divorce. She feared he would take them away from her, so she murdered them instead. Two young lives cut tragically and unnecessarily short out of vengeance and selfishness. And at the hands of the very person charged with keeping them safe and loved in this world. Very few stories cut to my soul like stories of parents hurting their children for their own selfish gain. Now, a family and community is left to pick up the pieces, and a father is left to struggle with how to move on from such a devastating loss.
