Birth Photographer Captures Amazing Shot Of Baby Being Born Inside Amniotic Sac

If you’re expecting and trying to decide whether you want a birth photographer present when you deliver, these pictures will totally make up your mind for you to absolutely, most definitely hire that photographer!

Leilani Rogers is an Austin, TX birth and breastfeeding photographer who recently captured what might be one of the most amazing birth pictures you’ll ever see. Leilani, who has 4 children of her own, regularly captures stunning images of birth and breastfeeding moms in Austin as well as around the country, but this is the first time she captured an image of a baby born en caul, meaning they were born still in their amniotic sac.

Leilani explains what had happened when she arrived to photograph the birth of these twins, not quite realizing as she was working that the baby was born in his sac.

“Photographing this moment was of course, amazing. It’s one of those “I can’t believe this is happening” moments, but it happened so fast that I didn’t really have time to dwell in the moment. This was a home birth and I rushed in to find that twin A had just been born. Twin B had been breech, but turned when baby A came out. There was a good size birth team present (understandably), it was getting darker by the minute outside, and the room was small… but I didn’t hesitate or take any time to worry about all that, I just went to work! I was lucky to be working with midwives who valued the importance of preserving that moment for the parents. (Shout out to Central Texas Birth Center in Georgetown, TX) ”
