When I saw the news that there was a shooting at an elementary school in San Bernardino, California, I have to admit that my first reaction was to avoid reading it. Our days can feel like we are over-inundated with sad, horrific news and I just can’t believe that it starts to feel like, “another day, another shooting.”
But I do believe it’s our duty as responsible citizens to be aware of the news, even when it is tragic. And more importantly, with the loss of lives in children, as a parent myself, I would want my child’s name to be remembered.
And that is why, eventually, I opened the story about the shooting and why we should all remember to keep this young boy’s family in our thoughts.
