These days I really don’t have a lot of time to go to the movies with my husband. Because we have two small children at home, we often see animated films whenever we do make it out to the theater. Honestly, I can’t even tell you the title of the last movie I saw that didn’t have Disney or Dream Works in the credits!
But the more I think about it, the more it doesn’t really bother me. That’s because I know I am pretty lucky to have grown up during the golden era of really friggin’ good movies. I was a teen in the mid-90s and learned everything I needed to know about making out, hiding crime scenes and what not to do at house parties thanks to films like I Know What You Did Last Summer, Cruel Intentions, and my personal favorite one, Can Hardly Wait. It was a classic era in film making, you guys. And as moms who have seen them all, it’s now our job to make sure that the younger generation gets to experience these truly life-changing theatrical master pieces. If’ you’ve seen Scream as many times as I have, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.
Here are 12 best 90s movies that every teenage girl needs to see!
I’m really surprised that people don’t talk enough about this film as it was one of my favorite movies during my junior year of high school. After transferring to a Los Angeles high school, Sarah (played by Robin Tunney) finds that her telekinetic gift appeals to a group of three wannabe witches. And just to think, this all went down at a Catholic prep school, too.
2. She’s All That
This film is the reason why so many people would say “She’s all that… and a side of fries, too!” Freddie Prinze Jr. played a high school jock makes a bet that he can turn an unattractive girl into the school’s prom queen. You know the story.
This film made everyone wake up screaming! There’s a killer in their midst who’s seen a few too many scary movies. Sounds familiar? Well, because it is. Scream is the reason why Neve Campbell was our 90’s horror film star actress.
